Visit the Beach on Tennessee's Lakes and Rivers

J. Percy Priest Lake – Nashville, TN Click Here for information

This lake is 15 minutes from downtown Nashville and provides a variety of clean and attractive areas for outdoor recreation.

Run by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers the lake offers fishing, camping, picnicking, boating, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding and of course some clean, sandy beaches.

Anderson Road Recreation Area

Children can swim in an enclosed area that is up to four feet deep. Adults can continue farther out into the lake to buoys marking the end of the swimming area. Be aware that there are no lifeguards at any of the public beaches except for at the Nashville Shores complex.

Tip: Arrive Early - On the weekends it’s very busy and parking often fills up by 8:00 am.

Other beach areas at this lake are Cook Recreation, Seven Points Campground (camping for registered campers and guests), Nashville Shores and Long Hunter State Park – Bryant Grove. The web address above lists information on all these areas.

Old Hickory Lake – Hendersonville, TN Click Here for information

Recreation areas on this lake are also managed by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. There are three day use areas on this lake that have beaches.

Cedar Creek: beach, beach volleyball, boat launch, playground, restrooms, picnic shelter

Laguardo: beach, boat launch, playground, restrooms, picnic shelter

Old Hickory Beach: beach, boat launch, playground, restrooms, picnic shelter

There are also several other recreational areas on this lake that may be of interest. Rockland has beach volleyball, Lock 3 has a sandy beach and there are also a number of other picnic areas and boat launches.

Cheatham Lake – Ashland City, TN Click Here for information

11 miles northwest of Ashland City is the Right Bank Day Use Area. This area has a sand beach and 2 beach volleyball courts. There are also playgrounds, a softball field, restrooms and 2 boat launches.

Cordell Hull Lake, Carthage, TN Click Here for information

This is another area managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. The four areas with sand beaches are Roaring River, Wartrace Creek, Defeated Creek and Salt Lick Creek Campground.
