Ocean City is the most popular destination among all Maryland beaches and it attracts thousands of people every year. As one of the premier destinations in the area, Ocean City boasts endless accommodation possibilities, plenty of outdoors activities available and miles of beaches of warm, crystal clear water, always accompanied by fantastic weather. The long boardwalk is a must see, only a few yards away from the beach, it's always packed with visitors who can enjoy plenty of summer treats after a "hard" day of swimming and getting tanned. You will also find occasional free beach concerts, as well as a bunch of arcades and amusement rides, making this a perfect destination for all the family.
Just a few miles from Ocean City you can find Assateague Island, a 37 mile long barrier island. On the Maryland seashore, this island is home to about 300 famous wild ponies, and is one of the best east coast beaches for providing a little nature loving along with the sun and sand. Visit the white sand beaches for beach combing and hiking. There are plenty of trails available for biking and camping is available on the island. Assateague Island is a great year-round beach destination.
Kent Island is another popular spot in the state, offering outstanding views of the Chesapeake Bay, excellent dining opportunities just in front of the water, and plenty of alternative outdoor activities like biking and hiking trails, for all of you who don't to spend all day long lying under the sun. If you go there I would also recommend to check out historic Stevensville, as it's a charming town full of art galleries and antique shops.
Port Sunlight Beach is also quite popular spot in the summer months, so if you want to check it out it would be a good idea to book in advance in order to avoid having to stay far away from the beach. Again, great weather, plenty of outdoor activities and lovely views of the beach front make this place one of the most desirable Maryland beaches.
