Food Festivals to Attend at the Beach
There are many great beach food festivals that occur in beach towns. Here is a short list of some of the more famous or ones that have been drawing in food and beach fans for decades. When you decide what part of the country you'll be visiting for a beach vacation, check the Chamber of Commerce website for the community and look for any festivals or other activities that you may be interested in attending. I'm always disappointed if I go on vacation and discover I just missed out on a great event. In addition to these beach food festivals there are all sorts of other large events. There are a large number of Arts and Crafts Festivals, Music Festivals and other activities focusing on things like Pirates or Kite flying. Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival – Amelia Island, FLThe 46th Annual event is scheduled for May 1-3, 2009In addition to all the great Shrimp dishes there is a Fine Arts Show that has been ranked 38th best in the nation. There are also antique vendors, lots of music and Pirates. Delray Beach Garlic Fest - FL Celebrate Valentines Day while you both eat wonderful garlic dishes. The 10th annual event will be held February 13-16, 2009 Taste of the Beach – Outer Banks, NC With more than 40 events this festival has plenty to do for the seafood and wine lover. Make sure to participate in the tapas crawl which is a tour of local restaurants and the Champagne lounge which features oysters, caviar, massage treatments and of course Champagne. Stone Crab, Seafood & Wine Festival-Longboat Key, FLThis event which is held at the Colony Beach resort will celebrate its 19 season in the fall of 2009. The four day event includes an abundance of cooking and dining events. Make sure to attend the Sand-between-your-toes wine tasting event. 28th Annual NC Oyster Festival – Ocean Isle Beach, NCThis event which is held in the middle of October draws over 45,000 visitors. In addition to Oyster shucking and a wide variety of Oyster dishes, there is an Arts & Crafts event, activities for the kids and plenty of live entertainment. Newport Seafood & Wine Festival – Newport, ORFebruary 20-22, 2009This festival is all about fun, and of course the fantastic local oyster, crab and other seafood dishes. Taste some outstanding Oregon wine and feast on the seafood while being entertained by dancing pirates.
