Beach Wedding Dresses
A Special Garment for a Special Wedding
Beach wedding dresses require something that a formal wedding dress doesn’t… Informality! Poufs, crinolines, trains and heavy fabrics like satin look fabulous going down the aisle in the cathedral, but they really look out of place on the beach. A beach wedding should look simple, informal and maybe a bit more laid back than its far more formal cousin.
Beach wedding dresses, just like a classic ones, can be just as beautiful, but really should have more movement to it. Manufacturers are making wedding dresses specially designed for the beach out of chiffon, light weight silks and other materials that have a more ethereal feel to them. They are cut closer to the body for a sleeker look, and yet are still figure flattering for any bride.
Beach wedding dresses can be strapless or not, halter style or more bra friendly. However, a super plunging neckline is never a good thing. It’s up to you to decide. For the beach, you don’t have to rely on a gown silhouette, either; you can wear your bridal outfit long or short. It all depends on how casual you want to go with your wedding. Remember, of course, the shorter your dress, the more casual your wedding is typically going to be. Since you are getting married on the beach, you also don’t have to wear a veil. A veil is hard to control on the beach with the way the wind blows. Try using some rhinestone clips or flowers in your hair, or, if you want to wear your hair up, why not a ponytail, with pearl studded pins. Again, this is about the informality of the place as well as the ease of the bridal accessories.
The beach is also not the place to wear formal dyed to match satin pumps, or really heels of any kind. Most brides, getting married on the beach do so barefoot or wearing rhinestone covered flip-flops. Carrying a bouquet is perfectly fine for a beach wedding. If that seems a bit too formal, why not try a few simple stems tied with some ribbon that matches your wedding colors. There are things that you do want to take into consideration, however. First off, remember that since you are on the beach, think about the weather. Even in the summer, the beach can get chilly. You definitely don’t want to be shivering through your vows, right?
While there are traditions that go along with getting married, they aren’t written in stone. Every bride has a right to make them up as she goes along, to make her day the most memorable day of her life and that goes for choosing the perfect beach wedding dress that suits her, her wedding and her personality.
